Joseph & Elizabeth Hash

"A photo of Joseph William Hash and Elizabeth (Moxley) Hash, taken at their home on Hash Ridge ca1913. Both were born in Grayson Co. VA. Joseph on Oct. 7, 1837 and Elizabeth on Oct. 9, 1838. Joseph fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. After the War, he married Elizabeth and moved West. They went through Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois before coming back to Cabell County in 1877. After living at Dusenberry Dam (Martha) for a couple years, Joseph bought about 400 acres on what is today called Hash Ridge. He and Elizabeth lived on Hash Ridge the rest of their lives. They both died in 1921, Joe on Feb. 16th, and Elizabeth on July 6th. They are both buried in the cemetery at Mud River Baptist Church, where they attended for about 40 years."
