Obituary



Lucille Victoria Grubb Neel, 101, of Huntington, WV passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 12:30 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Joe Hill. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.   Lucille was born July 13, 1915, the eldest child of the late Harry Frederick and Virgie Mae Overby Grubb. She was the matriarch of the Huxham/Grubb/Norris/Overby families, early settlers of Wayne and Cabell counties of West Virginia. She was devoted to her entire family. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin F. Neel, siblings Jack Charles (Delores), Alma “Pouge” Hamilton, John William, James Frederick and son in law, James Puckett. Brother in law Don Smith and sister in law Betty Grubb. She is survived by her beloved daughter Sue Ellen Browning Puckett; beloved grandson Dr. Todd Trimboli (Regina); great-granddaughter Kristen Trimboli; sisters Maxine Smith, Lydia Winters (Paul); brothers Samuel Grubb and Tommy Grubb (Joann) and sister in law Glema Grubb.  Also survived by her nieces and nephews whom she adored Jacquie “Sug”, Charles, David, Lisa, Keith, Tim, Jason, Kevin, Jeff and Polly as well as several great and great great nieces and nephews.  She was a homemaker ( making bread and cookies at age of 100), talented seamstress, enjoyed crafting and quilting. She was devoted to her deep faith in Christ and a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church. In her declining years, Dr. Charles Stanley was her pastor. She has left many notes and passages from his sermons for her family.  The family would like to thank Dr. Kathy Saber and her staff, St. Mary’s Home Health, Darcy, Yanet and Darren of Hospice, Kim Johnson special friend and caregiver, and all who helped during her final days. Lucille leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.  Friends may call from 11 am until service time on Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home.
