Obituary



Louise Rash, 86, of Huntington, widow of Jack Rash, passed away on Saturday October 1, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Westmoreland Baptist Church by Dr. C.J. Adkins. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. She was born September 16, 1930 in Huntington a daughter of the late Edwin Felix and Mary Francis Pinkerton Ward and was a lifelong residence of the Westmoreland Community. She was a graduate of Vinson High School and Marshall University having earned a B.A. in Education and a Master’s degree in Counseling. She began her teaching career teaching typing and business machines at Huntington High School and spent the remainder of her teaching career as a counselor at Vinson High School. Louise was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, an avid reader and was passionate about contributing her time and talents to the Westmoreland Women’s Club and Westmoreland Baptist Church. She also supported veteran’s and children’s groups through her contributions. Louise was a member of the Eastern Star and joined the Westmoreland Woman’s Club in 1992 where she held the office of president from 1996-1998. She was president of the GFWC WV Southwestern District in 2002 and GFWC Southwestern District Conservation Chairman from 2004-2006. Louise was also a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by sisters Norma Ilene Moncer, Helen Virginia Smythers and Shirley Ann Hite and brother Kenneth Eugene Ward. Survivors include three sons and two daughters in law: Mike and Lynn Rash and Roger and Pamela Rash all of Huntington and Greg Rash of Louisville, KY: grandchildren Joe Rash and Becky Rash Burns, Andy and Robbie Rash and Sarah and Phillip Rash and six great grandchildren: Brayden, Callista, Zane, Allie, Aaron and Jack Rash; sister Donna Sue Farrell of Ona, WV and brother; Edwin Austin Ward of Palm Bay, Florida. Friends may call from 6-9 pm Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Reger Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Hospice as well as all the employees at Chateau Grove Assisted Living where she spent the last two years of her life.
