Obituary

Arena Alice Hargis
(November 5, 1943 - October 16, 2018)

Arena Alice Hargis, 74, Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born on November 5, 1943 in Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Von Benjamin Vannoy and Martha Hilda Stump Vannoy. She is also preceded in death by one brother Frank Vannoy. She retired from Arrow Ready Mix Concrete Company. She is survived by one brother, John Vannoy; one sister, Emma Jane Moss; companion, Michael Short; step-son, Michael Short (Brenda Wilks); step-grandchild, Cynthia Short, Andrew Short and David Short; five nephews; three nieces; mother-in-law, Lena Short; and special sister-in-law, Martha Lanham and her husband, Roscoe. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville with Rev. Eric Porterfield. Burial will follow in Greenbottom Memorial Park, Lesage, W.Va. Friends may visit from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
