Obituary



Alvin O. Foster, Jr., of Huntington, passed away November 7, 2016. He was 87 years old.
A graduate of Huntington East High School, he spent most of his career in the wholesale food industry. In 1963, he and his family moved to St. Albans, WV where they lived until 1995. After residing for a short period in Lady Lake, FL he returned to Huntington in 2002.  While in St. Albans, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose (St. Albans lodge). There he served as governor of the lodge and attained the level of 3rd-degree Pilgrim with the organization. He was also a long term member of the Induction Ritual Team which won numerous awards.  He was a long term member of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church of Huntington where he participated in numerous activities as a youth and young adult. Once returning to Huntington, he served as a Sunday School leader and was active in their seniors' ministry.  He was the son of Alvin O. (Sr.) and Dorcas V. Foster, also of Huntington. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret (Brodtrick) Foster. Each of these three predeceased him. He is survived by his three children: Diana Gresham of South Charleston and her husband Joe, Robert (Bob) Foster of St. Albans and his wife Beverly, and Todd Foster of Sebring, FL and his wife Myra. He is also survived by five (5) grandchildren and their spouses, two (2) step-grandchildren and their spouses, and seven (7) great-grandchildren.  Visitation will be held at Chapman's Mortuary in Huntington beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday November 11, 2016 followed by the service at noon.
