Obituary



Marion "Maxine" Ward, 89, of Apple Grove, WV, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at her daughter's residence. Maxine was born February 14, 1927 in New Albany, IN a daughter of the late Claude Isaac and Birdie Mae Totten Merryman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Ward, Sr.; two brothers, Bob Merryman and Jim "J.O." Merryman; and a sister, Mary Madaline Vice. She and her husband, Paul E. Ward Sr. were the owners and operators of the former Ward's Donuts and she was a member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Sondra Joy and Paul Lowe of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. Ward, Jr. and Haru of Ona, WV; four grandchildren and their spouses, Paul Lowe III and Tamara of Chesapeake, OH, Jerry and Rhonda Lowe of Appel Grove, WV, Chiemi and John McKenna of Ona, WV, and Roger Ward of Ona; 11 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery.
