Allene Spurlock Jones
(February 1, 1926 - April 1, 2010)

Allene Spurlock Jones died Thursday, April 1, 2010. She was born February 1, 1926 in Huntington, WV and was a lifelong resident of Cabell County. For 35 years she worked for several drugstores in Huntington, retiring from Budget Pharmacy in 1989. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church for 50 years. She leaves behind many friendships from her church and her Berean Class. Her motto was "others first" which she practiced during her life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack E. Jones and her parents, Alice Adkins Spurlock and Harry Spurlock. She also was preceded by her grandson, Zachary Jones and sister, Hope McGuire. She is survived by sons Tom and Kathy Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jim and Christine Jones of Barboursville. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Mac Jones, Jami (Brian) Jones, Haley Jones and Aaron (Carrie) Jones and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Woodlands Healthcare for their loving care. Visitation for Allene Jones will be on Saturday, April 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at Chapman's Mortuary in Huntington. The Reverend William DeMoss will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park Abby on Avondale Rd, Huntington.
