James Michael (Mike) Messinger
(March 30, 1955 - April 18, 2010)


James Michael (Mike) Messinger, 55, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. II Timothy 4:7-8 KJV I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Mike was born March 30, 1955 in Wayne, WV a son of the late Leucole and Ellen Ross Messinger. Two sisters, Carmen Cabot and Sandra Perry, also preceded him in death. Mike was a faithful member of Bible Apostolic Church, where he was an inspiration to many people through his ministry in preaching and singing. Mike will be sadly missed by his family, many friends, and brothers and sisters in the Lord. Survivors include: his wife, Deborah Messinger; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Chris Harless of Huntington; a grandson, Nathaniel Harless of Huntington; six sisters, Barbara Zezula, Marlene Blumenthal, and Gwendolyn Sollis, all of Chicago, IL, Meda Kay Slone of Huntington, Belinda Mockus of Chicago, and Yvonne (Bonnie) Hatfield of Sprigg, WV; two brothers, Walter Messinger and Joel Messinger, both of Huntington; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Caldwell of Logan, WV. The family wishes to express a special thanks to his caregivers, Nina Harless and Billy Caldwell, Jr. and the staff of Hospice of Huntington for their loving care. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. David Fairburn officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary.
