Carl Leonard "Bud" Nelson
(April 27, 1923 - April 6, 2010)



Carl Leonard "Bud" Nelson, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. He was born April 27, 1923 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Elmer and Lola Johnson Nelson. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death. He was retired from the former C & O Railroad and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grace Gospel Church and Huntington Masonic Lodge #53 AF & AM, whose members will serve as pallbearers and conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Ethel Wilks Nelson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Elliott Jenkins of San Francisco, CA and Carol and Jim Perry of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Nelson of Hickory, NC; seven grandchildren, Tammy Stephens of Louisiana, Ryan Slappe of Huntington, Jimmy Perry of Boston, MA, Stephanie Nelson of Wilmington, NC and Christopher, Joseph, and Sarah Nelson, all of Hickory, NC; and three great grandchildren, Chauncey, Dylan, and Garret Stephens. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary.
