Carl Leonard "Bud" Nelson

Carl Leonard "Bud" Nelson, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in King's Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, April 9, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Jerry Matt officiating. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. He was born April 27, 1923 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Elmer and Lola Johnson Nelson. Two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death. He was retired from the former C & O Railroad and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grace Gospel Church and Huntington Masonic Lodge #53 AF & AM, whose members will serve as pallbearers and conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Ethel Wilks Nelson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Elliott Jenkins of San Francisco, CA and Carol and Jim Perry of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Nelson of Hickory, NC; seven grandchildren, Tammy Stephens of Louisiana, Ryan Slappe of Huntington, Jimmy Perry of Boston, MA, Stephanie Nelson of Wilmington, NC and Christopher, Joseph, and Sarah Nelson, all of Hickory, NC; and three great grandchildren, Chauncey, Dylan, and Garret Stephens.
