Obituary

William R. Fugitt
(July 6, 1921 - February 20, 2010)


Mr. William R. Fugitt, 88, of Huntington, widower of Dortha Kirkpatrick Fugitt, passed away Saturday February 20, 2010, at the VA Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm Tuesday February 23, 2010 at Chapman's Mortuary. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. He was born July 6, 1921 in Huntington, a son of the late William and Martha Reynolds Fugitt. He was a veteran serving with the US Army during WW II, earning a Purple Heart. He was a retired clerk with the C & O Railway, a life member of VFW Post #9738, whose members will conduct military Graveside Rites, and a member of New Baptist Church, formerly Beverly Hills Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by a special great granddaughter, Elyse Ratcliff. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Johannah and David Ratcliff of Ft. Gay, WV, a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Nancy Fugitt of Huntingtion. six grandchildren; Dr. Paul David Ratcliff, Jr, and Lisa of Bluefield, WV, Rick and Debra Ratcliff of Ashland, KY, Sheri Jo Campbell of Ft, Gay, WV, and Crystal Fugitt and Kenneth Ramey of Barboursville, WV, and 9 great grandchildren.
