Victor E. Prino
(July 4, 1922 - July 24, 2011)



 


Victor E. Prino, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Saint Mary’s Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 10:00 am Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of which he was a member, with Monsignor Lawrence Lucianna officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park with Veterans Honor Guard Post 16, Huntington, conducting military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be: Mickey Prino, Scott Barber, John Dennison, Joseph Victor Prino, Brett Joseph Hamrick, and William “Bill” Lemley; honorary pallbearers will be John W. Davis and William “Bill” Pitts. He was born July 4, 1922, in Loredo, WV, a son of the late Domenico and Soletta Arcuri Prino. In addition to his parents, his wife Mary Elizabeth Prino, three sisters, Katherine Barber, Fannie O’Sullivan, Mary Walls, one brother, Joe Prino, and a nephew, Frank A. “Buddy” Barber also preceded him in death. He was a U S Army veteran, a Bronze Star recipient, serving under General Patton in the 87th Infantry Motor Pool Division. He was a member of the VFW Post 1064, the American Legion Post 16, Huntington, and BPOE Lodge 313, Huntington. He retired as a machinist from INCO. Survivors include a sister, Betty Prino Young of Huntington; a brother, Dow Prino also of Huntington; two step- daughters, Sue McVey and Alberta McVey both of KY; a step son Eugene “Junior” McVey of Charlottesville, VA; four nieces, Mary Laura Dennison, Soletta Hamrick both of Huntington, Mary Kay Prino of Pittsburgh, PA, and Lisa Weaver of Houston, TX; three nephews, John R. Barber of Charleston, WV, Dominick “Mickey” Prino II and Victor Prino II both of Huntington; several great-nieces, great nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Beverly Edwards of Proctorville, Ohio. Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington.
