Cynthia Mae Adkins
(April 12, 1926 - September 25, 2011)



Cynthia M. Adkins, 85, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 PM Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Skip Seibel officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. She was born April 12, 1926 in Cabell County, WV a daughter of the late Francis Marion “Frank” Adkins and Vera Bowen Adkins. A sister, Emma Dunn; a brother, William Franklin “Bill” Adkins; and a nephew, David Miller, also preceded her in death. She was a secretary for Turnpike Ford and formerly worked for Universal Auto Credit. She was a graduate of Barboursville High School; and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 16. Survivors include: a sister, Erma Miller of Stone Mountain, GA; a sister-in-law, Ardella Adkins of Huntington; four nephews and four nieces and their spouses, Bill’s sons, Terry L. Adkins and his wife Jackie of Apple Grove, WV and Tony F. Adkins of Huntington, Emma’s children, Sallye Clark and her husband Walter of Charleston, WV and Debbie Clark and her husband Jim of Hinton, WV; and Erma’s children, Susan Roof and her husband Joe of Dawsonville, GA, Steve Miller and his wife Jane of Boulder, CO, Cindy Miller-Ziegler of Stone Mountain, GA and Bill Miller and his wife, Maxine of Bainbridge Island, WA; several great nieces and great nephews, including a special great nephew, Joshua Lee Adkins; several great great nieces; and many special friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be sent to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709.
