Obituary

Ennis Oral Flowers
(February 21, 1929 - April 11, 2015)


Ennis Oral Flowers, 86, of Huntington, WV, loving husband & father, died Saturday April 11, 2015 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Ennis was born February 21, 1929 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Nomer & Anna Cremeans Flowers. He was a Navy Boatswain Mate 3c veteran serving during the Korean War, retired from the former Connors Steel and built, owned & operated the Anchor Marine Enterprises for 13 years from 1963-1976. He was a member of The First Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Kenova, WV and was on the Flagship Rochester when they bombed Korea. He was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Flowers, one sister, Shella McAboy, son-in-law, Rick Skeens and a granddaughter-in-law, Johnna Skeens. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Marine Birchfield Flowers, two daughters, Gloria Skeens of Huntington & Sharon Belding of Ona, four grandchildren, Stephen (Rebecca) Skeens of Prichard, WV, Noah Skeens & David (Kimberly) Skeens all of Huntington, & Robert Belding & (Carla Chapman) of Salt Rock, great grandson, Casby Ennis Belding and several nieces & nephews. The family would like to thank the friends and church family for all their prayers & help and caregivers Beth & Paige Loudon and Kim King for all their loving care. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 PM Tuesday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
