Wanda Fay Tenney
(June 21, 1932 - April 20, 2015)



Wanda Fay Tenney, 82, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, in The Woodlands Retirement Community. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, Huntington, with Pastor Joseph Hill and Pastor Bill DeMoss officiating. Entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born June 21, 1932 in Cabell County, WV a daughter of the late Charles Insco and Ethel Sansom Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Law Tenney, Jr; a half-brother, Billy Jack Insco; brothers-in-law, Joe Glen Harrison and Tom Garvey; and sisters-in-law, Alma (James) Cox, Ina (John) Hersman, Lena (Wayman) Cousins, Agnes Payne, and Wilda (James) Chenoweth. She was a kindergarten teacher at Cross Roads United Methodist Church for over 30 years; was a lifetime member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church; and was one of the original owners of Ashton Riverview Campground. Wanda was a member of Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES; and was a Past Grand Matron of the Eastern Star of West Virginia and Grand Treasurer Emeritus of Grand Chapter of West Virginia. Survivors include: her goddaughter, Linda Faye Fowler Johnson and her husband, Irv Johnson; her grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson and Ashley (Andrew) Steele; dear friend Joyce Salamy, and her children Fr. Chris (Allison) Salamy, and Michelle (Waleed) Moujaes; dear friends Joe and Marilyn Myers; cousin Paul (Sandy) Houston; brothers-in-law, Paul Tenney, Thomas (Helen) Tenney and William Payne; sisters-in-law, Meta Harrison, Jean (John) Warner, and Bettie Garvey; her godson, Steve Fowler and his wife Marsha, and their daughter, Molly Fowler; and several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Bert and Middie. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary and after noon Thursday at the church. Members of Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES will conduct services at 6:00 pm on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Roads United Methodist Church at 3146 Saltwell Road, Huntington, WV 25705.
