Obituary

Harry M. Scarberry
(December 15, 1930 - April 5, 2015)


Rev. Harry Marshall Scarberry, 84, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord Sunday, April 5, 2015, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Chapman's Mortuary, with pastor Tim Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park. He was born December 15, 1930, in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Hobart and Emma Chaffin Scarberry. In addition to his parents, two sisters, and two brothers, a daughter, Linda Adkins and a daughter-in-law, Millie Scarberry also preceded him in death. He retired from BASF as a lab technician. Rev. Scarberry had been a member of Twenty-Sixth Street Baptist Church since 1948, where he served as Pastoral Care Minister, Deacon, youth counselor, assistant treasurer, usher, and President of the Burman Ashworth Bible class. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn VanHoose Scarberry; a son, Tim Scarberry of Point Pleasant, WV; son-in-law, Norman Adkins of Princeton, WV; brother-in-law Dave Backley of Proctorville, OH; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; very special friends, Jerry and Paula Rice.
