Obituary


Fred Kavanaugh Bailey, 76, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born in English, WV to Fred and Dorothy Bailey. He lived the majority of his life in Coalwood and Princeton, WV. Fred was a passionate man in which greatly valued education. He graduated from Big Creek High School in 1959. He obtained his Baccalaureate degree from the University of Charleston and his Master's degree from Marshall University. He took significant pride in his career as a principal of Big Creek High School and valued the community in which he lived and worked. He was an avid fan of W.V.U. athletics. He also possessed a vast knowledge of history, of which resulted in his early career in teaching. Fred was a loving father to his daughter, Rachael K. Parde, of Huntington, W.V. and his son, Douglas Chapman Bailey, of which preceded Fred's death. He is survived by his daughter Rachael Parde and her husband Mike, their two sons Drew and Peyton, his grandson's Douglas and Derek Bailey, granddaughters Amanda Bailey Davis, Candy Cooper and thirteen great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. on Saturday, April 7 at 4:00 PM with Jon Corbett officiating.
