Obituary



Sheridan Riley "Skip" Lane, 82, of Kenova, husband of Louise Hensley Lane, died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary with Pastor Duane Smith and Don Ramey officiating. His grandsons will be pallbearers and burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. Skip was born November 22, 1935 in Huntington a son of the late Walter Sheridan and Virginia Mae Flora Lane. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a retired steelworker having worked over 33 years at the Steel of West Virginia, a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, member of the American Genealogy Society, and enjoyed working on his computer and reaching out to his class mates of the 1953 class of Huntington East High School for reunion information. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sheryl Aldridge of Kenova, Sheila and Shawn Heck of Ashland, KY, and Rebecca and Andrew Davis of Huntington; a sister, Patricia A. Divelbliss of Lancaster, OH; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, April 2, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
