Obituary

Annie Pauline Chapman
(November 9, 1928 - January 18, 2018)

Annie Pauline Chapman, 89, of Barboursville, WV awoke in Heaven on January 18, 2018 after a long struggle. She was born on November 9, 1928 to Ora and William Keaton. Her siblings Virginia Huffman, Shirley Acklin, and William Keaton Jr. had preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Chester A. Bailey, who died in 1958 while serving in the U.S. Navy. Her loving, devoted husband of 51 years, Mac A. Chapman died on January 3, 2013. She is survived by four children, Robert Bailey (Sara), Philip Chapman (Brenda), Deborah Chapman (James Green) and Teresa Chapman Lowry. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nathanael Bailey (Kelly), Elizabeth Bailey ter Haseborg (Heiko), Curtis Chapman, Daniel Chapman and Mack Lowry. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Jonah and Thomas Bailey, Jannes and Tobias ter Haseborg, and Danielle Chapman. Also surviving are a special sister-in-law, Juanita Keaton, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was a retired school teacher, spending most of her career at Milton Junior High School. She was an avid reader, a fair trout fisher and loved to travel. She and Mac particularly enjoyed camping with friends at the West Virginia State Fair and extended fishing trips. They had special joy when they were accompanied by their grandchildren. A great part of her life was involved with Cyrus Creek Missionary Baptist Church where she served in many capacities until her failing health prevented her attendance. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the Staff of Chateau Grove Senior Living for their loving care and devotion during the last three years. Visitation will be Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, WV. Funeral services will be there on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Bob Ray officiating. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Forest Memorial Park in Milton, WV.
