Wilbert Darrell Spurlock
(September 28, 1933 - January 29, 2018)
WILBERT DARRELL SPURLOCK, 84, of
Barboursville, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 29,
2018. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, February 2,
2018, at the
Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with
Pastor Trent Eastman officiating. Burial will be in the
Donel C. Kinnard
Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, W.Va. He was born September 28,
1933, in Lesage, W.Va., a son of the late Freddie and Maude Massie Spurlock.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Freddie "Hank" Spurlock Jr. He
graduated from Marshall University with a degree in accounting. He was a
retired dispatcher with the CSX Railroad and for more than 50 years prepared
income taxes for many people in the area. He was a veteran of the US Air
Force, attended New Baptist Church in Huntington, and was a past member of
Minerva Lodge #13 AF&AM Barboursville. He is survived by his wife, Jean Jobe
Spurlock; children, Rev. Jonathan (Sue) Spurlock, Jeana Fowler, Jill (Gene)
Walters, Greg (Judy) Porter, Vicki (Jim) Rickard and Donna (Mike) Stewart;
grandchildren, Timothy, Sarah, Benjamin, Deanna, Matthew, Laura, Lindsay,
Ashley, Megan (Matt), Kayla (Nathan), Marc, Sean (Amy), Sheryl (Kurtis),
Joey (Abbey), Erin, Beth (Michael), Tyler, Jay, Misty (Brent);
great-grandchildren, Aaron, Norah, Madison, Molly, Carter, Caroline, Jayse,
Janie, Megan, Abby, Shannon, Jamie, Abby, Emmy, Savannah, Abram, Jacob, Lux,
Ryne and Amelia; a great-great-grandchild, Leighara; two sisters, Shirley
Ball of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Violet Stephens of Huntington; two
brothers, Rev. Max Spurlock of Ashton, W.Va., and Larry Spurlock of
Huntington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the
Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
