Betty Jean Raney
(June 4, 1931 - January 27, 2018)



Betty Jean Raney, 86 of Barboursville, passed away January 27, 2018. She was born June 4, 1931 in Bluefield, WV, a daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Chapman Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Raney, one brother, Don Brown, one sister, Dorothy Bonham, and her son-in-law, Wade Herald. Betty was a gold life master in duplicate bridge. She graduated from Beaver High School in Bluefield, WV. She was a long time member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, and a member of the Huntington Duplicate Bridge Club. She was a retired employee of Lazarus Department Store. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Herald of Barboursville, WV; two sons Russell Raney (Ines Elkins) of Huntington, WV and Brian Raney (Veronica) of South Boston, VA; two grandchildren, Taylor Jennings (Jay) and Zachary Raney (Kaitlyn Puryear); and one great-grandchild, Bowen Mack Jennings. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Graveside services will be private. The family would like to thank Dr. Janet Wallace for her care and support.
