Obituary

Loretta Adkins
(November 8, 1956 - April 4, 2014)



Loretta Adkins, 57, of Huntington, wife of Wayne Adkins, passed away Friday April 4, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born November 8, 1956, in Branchland, Lincoln County, WV a daughter of the late Alex and Iva Orange Brunty Price. Her son, Mark Brooks also preceded her in death. She was a former laborer, working on bridges, for Marco Contracting. In addition to her husband survivors include a daughter, Petina Brooks of Virginia; a son, Brian Brooks of Huntington; grandchildren, Kylie Huffman and Mackenzie Johnson also of Virginia; four sisters, Phyllis and husband Garnet Vance of Branchland, Glenna Adkins of Milton, Maxine Ratcliff of Milton, and Della Dellington of Crewe, VA; five brothers, Donald Ferguson and wife, Loraine of Ohio, Elbert Ferguson and wife, Jennie of Huntington, Bobby Ferguson and wife, Sandra of Huntington, Wetzel Ferguson of Huntington, and Linville Ferguson and wife, Dorothy of Branchland; special brother-in-laws, Allen Adkins and Lucian and wife Becky Adkins; special sister-in-law, Jolene and husband Roger Pack; and special friends, Billy Rose, Marsha and Keith Webb, Lori, Gordie and Amy. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Pamela Albright and Maxine Radcliff, and extends a thank you to her doctors, nurses and her Hospice Care Nurses. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Elder Donald “Smokey” Hager and Elder Eddie McComas officiating. Burial will be in the Raymond and Lois Adkins Cemetery, Harless Fork, Branchland, WV. Friends may call after 1:00 pm Wednesday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.
