Bernice "Greg" Martin (Gregory) McKay
(January 28, 1928 - April 14, 2014)



Bernice “Greg” Martin (Gregory) McKay, 86, of Huntington, passed away at home on Monday, April 14. Born in Sago, Virginia on January 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Buford Oren and Blanche Martin Gregory. She was a graduate of Callands High School in Sago, VA and the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Danville, VA. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and later worked as a pediatric nurse at University Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Gregory Huff and brother, John Stone Gregory. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Charles E. McKay Jr., daughter Gina McKay Lodge and husband Robert of Oberlin, OH, and sons Dr. Charles E. McKay, III and wife Tammy of Nashville, TN and Dr. John McKay and wife Rebecca of Greer, SC; eleven grandchildren, one great grandson, and three nieces. Greg was a life-long animal lover, and she rescued numerous homeless cats over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to her favorite local charity, Little Victories Animal Rescue Shelter. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday April 16, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Rev. Hubert Harvey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1:00 PM on Wednesday.
