Obituary

Joseph Taylor Cunningham
(June 6, 1931 - April 24, 2014)



Joseph Taylor Cunningham, 82, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastors David Cartwright and Bill DeMoss officiating. Burial will be in Suncrest Memorial Park, Point Pleasant, WV. He was born June 6, 1931, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Bine J. and Helen Roush Cunningham. A sister, Flora Ann Beahrs; a brother Bine J. Cunningham, Jr.; a nephew, Stephen Beahrs; and a son-in-law, Keith Dowdy, also preceded him in death. Joe was retired from the Ohio River Company; was a U.S. Air Force veteran; a graduate of Huntington East High School; and a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Carrie Dowdy of Charlottesville, VA, and Julie Cunningham of Tobaccoville, NC; a grandson, John Dowdy of Charlottesville, VA and Columbia, SC; a sister, Bernice Moses and a sister-in-law, Nancy Cunningham, both of Florida; and a nephew, Paul Beahrs and his children, Jessica and Jacob, and their mother, Rachel, along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for the loving care they provided for Joe. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House or Cross Roads United Methodist Church Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary.
