Obituary

Alice Christine Bybee
(March 13, 1916 - April 20, 2014)



Alice Christine Bybee, 98, of Huntington, WV, died Sunday April 20, 2014 at Hall’s Assisted Living, Huntington. Memorial funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday April 25, 2014 at Community of Grace United Methodist Church with Pastors, Steven Hamrick & Keith Leap officiating. Alice was born March 13, 1916 in Barboursville, WV, a daughter of the late Guy Lester & Lillie Blanche Mixer Meabon. She was retired from the Cabell County Board of Education and was a member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church formerly Highlawn United Methodist Church. She graduated from Marshall College and finished her Masters Degree in 1958, and was a member of the Kappa Omincron Phi Soroity. She started her career in Decatur, OH for 2 years teaching Home Econimcs and Science, then 5 years at Winfield H.S., 2 years at Chapmanville H.S., and 14 years at West Jr. High School teaching Home Econimcs. Alice donated her body to the Marshall University Medical School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Bybee, two brothers, Guy Edwin & Charles Vernon Meabon, four sisters, Mary Frances Meabon, Margaret Corrine Stephans, Faith Elizabeth McDonald, and Lillie Lee Love Meabon. Survivors include her son, Jack Bybee & wife Julie of Barboursville, WV, one sister, Hope Mae Spears of Buckhannon, WV, and one grandson, Jacob Bybee. The family would like to thank the caregivers (Eva, Vickie, Judy, Tiffany, Kristey and Sharon) at Hall’s Assisted Living for all their loving care. Friends may call at Community of Grace United Methodist Church after 10:00 AM on Friday. Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
