Richard Copley
March 27, 1940 - April 25, 2014)



Richard Copley, 74 went to heaven Friday morning at 4AM at Huntington Health and Rehab. He was born March 27, 1940 and died April 25, 2014. He is survived by his wife Sue Copley who was the joy of his earthly life, of Huntington, son Richard “Jake” Copley and his wife Elizabeth of Artemus Ky. Two daughters Katherine Roxanne Copley and Jessica Dawn Copley both of Huntington. A Grandson, Austin Cole Short and Austin’s dad Thea Short, two granddaughters Kameron ElisaBeth Copley, Korliyah JaMae Adams. He loved Korliyah’s dad Corey Adams. Richard had a brother he looked up to who preceded in death this year and a sister-in-law he adored, Don and Wanda Copley, a sister he loved, Nancy and her husband Jack Gilkerson and their daughter Nancy Gilkerson. Richard loved his all his nieces and nephews and cousins. He loved his friend Dearl Hutchison who served him communion faithfully when he no longer could attend church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ethel Copley and a sister Doris Jean Copley. His visitation will be 1PM Monday, April 28, 2014, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PMat Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. Richard served in the Air Force early sixties. He was employed with CSX of Huntington and retired in 1996. He was and elder at one time at Farmdale Church of Christ, then became a preacher for four years at First Christian Church in Louisa, KY before returning to Huntington. Richard loved working on old VWs, was a fan of NASCAR (Jeff Gordon), and Civil War enthusiast. Richard loved writing Communion meditations. Besides loving and serving Jesus faithfully, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren the most.
