Betty Hale Richards, 89, of South Point, OH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at her residence. She was born September 1, 1926 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Wade and Zella Gill Hutchinson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Hale; a brother, Gerald Hutchinson; a sister, Helen Hutchinson McCallister; and a son, James Michael "Mike" Hale. She was an educator in Wayne County at Lavalette Elementary for 15 years and Cabell County as an administrator and counselor for 15 years. After retiring from the school system, she worked in real estate in the Huntington area. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Susan Hale of Tallahassee, FL and Robert W. and Cheryl Hale of Brookfield, WI; seven grandchildren, Mysti Hale Oakes (David), John Michael Hale, Michelle Hale Powers (Tom), Michael Joseph Hale, Robert Matthew Hale (Becca), Melissa Hale McDonell (Joe), and Jeremy Hale (Jackie); and nine great grandchildren. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Melody Myers, Robin Love, and Vicki McGuire, for their loving care. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington. Private burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the charity of your choice.
