Obituary


James William Bounds, 95, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017. He was born December 22, 1921 in Wheeling, WV to William A Bounds and Anna E Trussel Bounds. He graduated from Lindsly Institute, Wheeling, WV in 1940 and enlisted in the US Army, where he served in the Signal Corp during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He worked for several companies including Michael Corbin Clothing and AlGreco Sportswear Company in Huntington, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Laura Arlene Rowe Bounds, who he married July 19, 1950. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Avonelle Major, Melbourne, FL and Juanita Rowe, Huntington WV and several nieces and nephews. He was a gifted musician and accomplished vocalist. He was a member of Church in the Valley where he loved to sing in the choir. Most recently, he was a resident of Wyngate Senior Living Community, Barboursville, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Stan Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
