Hazel Lorraine Burris, age 87 years, beloved mother of Sandra K. Prunty, mother-in-law of Paul J. Prunty, and grandmother of Matthew A. Prunty, left this earthly world on November 28 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Hazel was born in Lincoln County on June 14, 1924, and was the daughter of Frank Barrett and Anna Laura Hollandsworth Barrett. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Burris, sister, Marvine Virginia Wade, and brothers, Beuford and Emory Barrett. Hazel was a retired bookkeeper from the Diamond Dept. Store in Charleston WV. Before moving to Huntington, Hazel resided in Hurricane for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hurricane, WV. Visitation will be at Chapman’s Mortuary on Wed. from 5:00 to 7:30. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Allen Reasons on Thursday at 1:30pm at Chapman’s Mortuary. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Charleston, WV. Hazel will be greatly missed by her family. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Huntington Health and Rehab who lovingly cared for Hazel during her last years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Huntington.
