Jon A. Markowitz
(May 13, 1970 - November 18, 2011)


Jon A. Markowitz, 41, of Huntington, WV, son of Barry and Mim Markowitz of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday November 18, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born May 13, 1970 in Seoul, Korea, grew up in Chester, NJ and attended Marshall University. Jon was an active member of the ASPCA, was a Life Coach in health and wellness and served with the mayor’s committee for persons with disabilities. Jon routinely spoke at local schools on personal safety issues, and was a devoted advocate for the disability community in Huntington. In addition to his parents, Jon's survivors include two sisters, Heidi Zander of McGaheysville, VA, and Rachel Markowitz and fiancé Josiah Johnston of Berkeley, CA; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Teresa Markowitz of Parkland, FL; his aunt, Marcia Karp and her husband Norm of Sun City, FL; four nephews and a niece; special friends Melissa Collins and Brittany Woods, both of Huntington, as well as many other close and dear friends. A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday December 17, 2011 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Huntington Prime Penthouse and Piano Bar, 910 4th Avenue, Huntington. Jon will be put to rest at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ. Donations in his name may be made to Shriners Hospital or the ASPCA.
