Rose Marie Chaffins
(May 26, 1944 - November 5, 2011)



Rose Marie Chaffins, 67, of Ceredo, WV, wife of Glen Roger Chaffins, passed away on November 5, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after a struggle with Alzheimers. She was born on May 26, 1944, the daughter of the late Madelyn and Clyde Howell. In addition to her parents, a nephew, Matthew Beaty preceded her in death. She graduated from Huntington High, and was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education as a secretary at Ceredo Elementary at the time of her retirement. She also leaves behind her children, Gary Steele and wife Debbie of Barboursville, Jana Hatten and husband Sean of Jacksonville, FL, and Michelle McCallister and husband Mark of Barboursville, WV. In addition, she leaves behind her stepchildren, Kathy Bradach and husband Steve of Minnesota, Lenny Chaffins and wife Paula of Virginia, and Cheryl Chaffins of Huntington. She also leaves behind her sisters, Barbara Holbrook and the late Sam Holbrook, Linda Beaty and husband Harold, both of Huntington, and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert K. and Teresa Chaffins of Richmond, KY. She also leaves 10 grandchildren that she adored, Zachary Steele and fiancé Laura Mader, Ashley and Emiley Hatten, Madelyn and Mason McCallister, Jason and Tessa Eavenson, Hannah Bradach, Zachary and Megan Chaffins, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, special cousin-in-laws, Jerry and Wanda Chaffins, and close friends. The family would like to thank Lakin Hospital, Pt. Pleasant, WV for all of the wonderful care during her stay and the loving and caring staff at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington during her short stay. Donations may be made to the Hospice House or Alzheimer’s research in her name. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Tuesday November 8, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Minister John Holland officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.
