Obituary
Helen Maxine Grubb Woods,
97, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at her residence.
She was born December 15, 1917 in Huntington a daughter of the late John
Edgar and Hazel D. Patton Grubb. Her husband, Fred Woods; a brother, Laverne
Grubb; and a sister, Allene Hinerman, also preceded her in death. She was a
retired clerk for the Veterans Administration, having retired in 1973. Helen
was a member of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church; VFW Post 9738 Ladies
Auxiliary; American Legion Post 16 Ladies Auxiliary and the Huntington Order
of the Eastern Star. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila
and Greg Johnson of Huntington; a grandson, Greg Johnson of Huntington; a
stepson and daughter-in-law, Fred and Peggy Woods of Delaware, OH; and a
longtime friend with whom she enjoyed her weekly visits, Frances Flesher of
Huntington. The family would like to express their appreciation to the
caregivers for their loving care in the last weeks. Private graveside
services will be conducted at Woodmere Memorial Park with Dr. Jerry Wood
officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to
Beverly Hills United Methodist Church, 2600 Washington Blvd. Huntington, WV
25705. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
