(February 23, 1923 - May 19, 2015)

William Henry (Bill) Church, 92, Ashland, KY, walked through the Valley of the Shadow of Death and into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He died peacefully with his family at his side at the Kingsbrook Life Care Center, on May 19, 2015. Bill is the widower of Lucy Huntsman Church who preceded him in death in 2004. He was born February 23, 1923 in Bridgetown, Barbados, British West Indies. After spending his early years at sea as a Merchant marine he arrived in the United States at age 23in pursuit of the American dream. He retired from the C&O Railroad with 37 years of service. He was a faithful and long- time member of the South Ashland United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir. He lived a full and happy life and received the most joy in helping others. After retirement he volunteered at local nursing homes and was honored with a Hometown Hero award. He was an avid reader, follower of current events, and a loyal University of Kentucky basketball fan. He is survived by his devoted and loving son, William A. (Bill) Church (Teresa) Ashland, KY; three grandchildren, Dennis Church (Tiffany) Ashland, KY, Christy Church (US Navy) Memphis, TN, Amy Church Jimenez (Ricardo) Fort Hood, Killeen, TX; four great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Shawn Floyd and Gabriel and Noah Jimenez. Donations are suggested to South Ashland United Methodist Church.

"Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
May there be no moaning
When I put out to sea.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
May there be no sadness of farewell,
When at last I Embark.
God's speed Dad !
