Obituary



Marvin Eugene Cecil, Sr., 84, of Hurricane, WV, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at home. He was born March 18, 1934 in Marmet, WV a son of the late Okey Allen and Mamie Virginia Dillon Cecil. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Okey Cecil, Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn Turley and Louise Adams. He was a retired Master Chief Gunner's Mate for the U.S. Navy. He was raised in the Nazarene church and was a minister with the Nazarene church for 20 years. Survivors include: his wife, Darlena Byrd Cecil; three sons, Marvin Cecil, Jr. of Florida, David Andrew Cecil of West Virginia, and Matthew Lee (Brittany) Cecil of Hurricane; three grandchildren, Chris Cecil, Jeremy Cecil, and Scott Cecil; several great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Lee Burcham of Warren, IN, Gertrude Chandler of Ashford, WV and Juanita Stark, of Flatwoods, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Private services were held at the Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
