Obituary



Juanita Adkins, 98, of Huntington, widow of Walter Adkins, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday, October 28, 2018, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted noon on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Minister Matthew McBrayer and Elder Phillip Daniels officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born May 6, 1920, in Lincoln County, WV, a daughter of the late Jason and Belle Mullins Dempsey. One sister, Birtie Jewell Dempsey, 6 brothers, Howard, Herbert, Billy, Tilman, Herald and Joe Dempsey, and a grandson Carl Adkins, Jr., also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Ceredo Church of Christ. Survivors include; two daughters, Daisy Scaggs (James) and Genethel Adkins all of Huntington; one son, Carl Adkins, Sr, of Ashton, WV; seven grandchildren, Gregory Adkins, Jason Adkins, Juanita Scaggs, Teresa Scaggs, Trilla Sowards, Lydia Terry and Lillian Price; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of numerous other family and friends including many young people in the community. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
