Grace Velukutty Nair, 87, of Huntington, widow of Rackandath Velukutty Nair, died Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Heritage Center. She was born October 19, 1930 in Kottayam, India, a daughter of the late Modale Oommen Pothen and Chackalayil Itticheria Sosamma. She is also preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. She was a member of the former Grace Fellowship Church, Hurricane, WV., and a former teacher having taught in India, Ethiopia and Zambia. She will be remembered by many including those who knew her in Huntington, WV at Christ Community Church, Missio Dei Church, Covenant School (where she assisted in the library and enjoyed reading stories to the children) and at Cabell Huntington Hospital (where she volunteered at the Gift Shop). Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dilip and Laurie Nair of Huntington, with whom she made her home; two grandchildren, Jayan Timothy Nair and Shaanthi Catherine Nair; and her brother, Thomas Modale Pothen. Chapman's Mortuary is assisting the family with cremation. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
