Obituary



Lucilie Layne Barnett, 90, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. She was born October 8, 1925, in Osborne, KY a daughter of the late Carl Andrew and Ollie Jane Bush Layne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William B. Whittaker; her second husband, Edgar Franklin Barnett; a son-in-law, Jim Caldwell; a sister, Ruth Cornett; and a brother, Roy L. Layne. She was a retired LPN from St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, and was a member of the Rock of Ages United Baptist Church. Survivors include: her daughter, Carletta Caldwell of Prestonsburg, KY; her son, William Roy Whittaker of Lexington, KY; her brother, Robert B. Layne of Prospect, OH; a grandson; two granddaughters; three great grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Buttons. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Buddy Muncy officiating. Burial will be 2:30 pm Saturday at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 am to service time Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rock of Ages United Baptist Church Building Fund.
