Obituary



Orpha Scarberry, 80, of Huntington, widow of Edward Scarberry, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Charles Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Branchland. Orpha was born May 4, 1935 in Branchland, WV a daughter of the late Ollie and Annie Jane Clay Brunty. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. She worked formally at Huntington Hospital and Pulley Nursing Home in housekeeping and was Baptist by faith, growing up attending Red River Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Lillie and Vernon Adkins of Huntington; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ruby Brunty of Ypsilanti, MI; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins, Olen Clay and Justine Beckelheimer. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at HIMG, St. Mary's Cancer Center, and staff at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for their compassion and care. Friends may visit family 5:00-7:00 pm Monday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
