Obituary



Betty L. Bugg, 81, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016, at Wyngate Assisted Living, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Steve Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. She was born April 14, 1934 in Wood River, IL a daughter of the late Arthur and Flossie Atchley Gerl. Her husband, of 63 years, Fred Lawerence Bugg and a brother, George Gerl, also preceded her in death. She was a retired catalogue department manager for J.C. Penney. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Michaela "Mike" Bugg Chiles and Chris Chiles of Barboursville and Jo Bugg Brookover and Mark Brookover of Leesburg, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Terry Bugg of Chillicothe, OH; four grandchildren, Christopher "Kicker" Chiles (Chelsea) of Barboursville, Drew Chiles (Shannon) of Oxford, MS, Ben Chiles (Samantha) of Barboursville, and Eva Bugg of Chillicothe, OH; a great grandchild, Campbell Grace Chiles; two sisters, Verna Maietta of Niagara Falls, NY and Judith Blackburn of Jerseyville, IL; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Floyd and Donna Gerl of Arkansas and Ann Gerl of Rosewood Heights, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be sent to the WV Arthritis Foundation, 116 Smith Street, Suite 301, Charleston, WV 25301 for research on Rheumatoid Arthritis. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday February 5, 2016 at Chapman's Mortuary.
