Christopher Harve (Chris) Bauer
(May 8, 1927 - December 16, 2010)


Christopher Harve (Chris) Bauer, 83, of Point Pleasant, WV, died Thursday December 16, 2010 at Holzer Assisted Living, Gallipolis, OH. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Sunday December 19, 2010 at Wilcoxen Funeral Home, Point Pleasant with Rev. F. Dennis Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Chris was born May 8, 1927 in the Baden Community of Leon, Mason County, WV a son of the late Vallie and Elizabeth Durst Bauer. Chris owned and operated Bauer's Barber Shop for over 50 years and supported the Big Blacks with game schedules. He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed his big game hunting trips to Alaska and Western United States. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Bikini Island Atomic Bomb Test. He was a life member of the Point Pleasant Moose Lodge 731 and the National Riffle Association. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 23 whose members will conducted military graveside rites, Beni Kedem Shriners, Point Pleasant Royal Arch Chapter #7, Franklin Commandery #17, Minturn Lodge #19 A.F. & A.M., the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Wild Sheep Foundation. He was also an active member of the Point Pleasant Gun Club. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Lucille (Halstead) Bauer, his sister Lorena Bauer Floyd, and brothers Sidney E. (Perch), Manford L. and Vallie, Jr. He is survived by sisters Clarice Jones and Garnet Schwarz of Point Pleasant, Marjorie Costanzo of Wheeling and Gladys Chapman of Huntington and brothers Mack of Point Pleasant and Merald Wayne of Proctorville, OH. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Wilcoxen Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday December 18, 2010. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is in charge of arrangements.
