Dave C. Tomblin
(January 8, 1937 - December 29, 2010)



Dave C. Tomblin beloved husband and father died peacefully Wednesday December 29, 2010 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at the age of 73. He has struggled with Alzheimer's disease for the last 10 years. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday January 1, 2011 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Glen Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery Huntington. Dave was born January 8, 1937 in Logan County at Holden, WV. A son of the late Isaac M. and Myrtle (Canterbury) Tomblin. Also preceding him in death one sister, Florence P. Grieco and one infant brother. He leaves behind his loving wife Phyllis W. Tomblin and three daughters, Cathy A. (Tommy) Thompson, of Shoals, WV., Shirley K. (Roger) Wilcox, and Belinda (Marty) Knight of Huntington. Two sons, Thomas "Buddy" (Melissa) McCallister, of South Point, Ohio and Gary D. (Evelyn) McCallister of Yuba City, CA. One brother Ephraim M. (Rachel) Tomblin, his special care giver Anita L. Clay, his sister in law, and a "special adopted son" Roger (Edna) Cole. He also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He retired from Huntington Alloys as a heavy equipment and crane operator and was always ready to help anyone in need and could fix anything. Dave loved to hunt and fish and visit his cabin. From youth he attended church and later in life joined the First Wesleyan Church in Huntington. The family would like to thank the late Rev. L.V. Cartmill his good friend and former Pastor for his guidance. They would also like to thank the staffs at both the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House & River Bend Nursing Home for all their loving care. Donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House or the Alzheimer's Association. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday December 31, 2010.
