Evelyn Elizabeth Scearcy
(March 15, 1922 - December 20, 2010)



Evelyn Elizabeth Scearcy, 88, of Huntington, widow of Branch Scearcy, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 PM Thursday, December 23, 2010, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Minister Danny Evans officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum at Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born March 15, 1922, in Cabell County, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Ida Cleo Pine Shoemaker. Eleven siblings also preceded her in death. She was a seamstress having worked for the former Bluejay Manufacturing and later at Corbin Limited. She was a member of the Highlawn Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lucinda "Cindy" Edmonds Hutchinson and James of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter David and Peggy Edmonds of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Danny Lee Edmonds of Huntington; four grandchildren, Tonya Edmonds Lindsay, Sarah Beth Hutchinson, Chris Edmonds and Nathan Hutchinson; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Edmonds, Hannah Hutchinson, Madison Lindsay and Tanner Edmonds; and a close family friend Paul Keszler of Huntington. Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
