Ruperto Roberto "Rupy" Robateau
(October 31, 1929 - December 6, 2010)



Ruperto Roberto "Rupy" Robateau, 81, of Huntington, entered into Heaven Monday December 6, 2010. Funeral liturgy will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday December 13, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Monsignor Lawrence Luciana officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Rupy was born October 31, 1929 in Belize City, Belize, a son of Charles and Basilia Alverez Robateau. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Fe Robateau. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and had been a service manager in the auto industry before opening his own shop, Rupy's Auto Body, at 525 4th Ave, Huntington. Rupy was also an avid Marshall University fan. Survivors include his wife of 33 years whom he referred to as "Darling", Janice Clark Robateau; two daughters and son-in-law, Sylvia Jean Crickard of Huntington, and Mary Elizabeth and Jamie Ritter of Indian Trail, NC; four sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Joan Robateau of Ceredo, WV, Michael and Lisa Robateau of Bixby, OK, Paul and Margaret Robateau , and Nicholas and Cortney Robateau, all of Huntington; a brother, Carlos Robateau of Boston, MA; his mother-in-law, Maxine Wallace of Huntington; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Crickard, Matthew Crickard and wife, Tiffany Crickard, Robert Crickard, Meghan Henderson and husband, Nate Henderson, Zachary Robateau, Anthony Robateau, Morgan Robateau, Casey Lawson and husband, Jeremy Lawson, Alicia Fe Robateau, Ella Rose Robateau, James Silas Ritter, Sarah Elizabeth Ritter, and Jackson Nicholas Robateau; three great grandchildren, Robert Crickard, Lexi Crickard, and Layla Crickard, and best friends, Frank Fuscardo, and David W. Sager. Donations are encouraged to be given to St. Joseph Catholic School Building Fund at 1326 6th Ave, Huntington, WV, 25701. Friends may call 4:00-8:00 PM Sunday at Chapman's Mortuary.
