Evelyn A. Barbour
(November 15, 1920 - October 17, 2011)



Evelyn A. Barbour, 90, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday October 17, 2011 at her home. Evelyn was born November 15, 1920. She lived her life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles & Lena Barbour, a sister Aldine Hastings, two brothers Bill & James Barbour. Evelyn was survived by her partner Joan Ethridge of 33 years, a brother Charles, sisters Emma Lou McGinnis of Kenova and Barbara Schmader of Valdosta, Georgia. She had a host of nieces & nephews who she loved dearly and always treated them as her own. Evelyn was an avid sports enthusiast who played golf and softball for many years. She was a diehard Marshall fan. Evelyn was one of the original Rosie the Riveters during wartime. She worked for Owens-Illinois for 28 years before she retired. She had a host of friends she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with. She loved her animals Millie and Junebug and they will miss her dearly. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday October 19, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington. Graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday October 20, 2011 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Timothy S. Dixon officiating. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local Animal no kill shelter.
