Warren G. "Skip" Lutz, Ph. D.

Dr. Warren G.
“Skip” Lutz, Ph.D., 71, of Huntington, WV, died peacefully
Tuesday October 4, 2011 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Skip was
born April 22, 1940 in Pittsburg, PA a son of the late Edgar Charles Lutz,
Sr. & Marie Hutchin Lutz. During his 32 years at Marshall University he
retired as the Dean of Enrollment Management. He touched and changed many
lives and developed many relationships while at Marshall. Skip served his
country in the United States Air Force from 1958 - 1962. he always felt a
sense of pride of his time in the service. He was a lifelong member of the
American Legion Post 16. His incredible sense of humor and his quick wit
along with his ability to talk to anyone about any subject created many
friendships. His kindness & thoughtfulness to his family and friends will
forever be remembered. He was a compassionate and loving husband to his wife
and loved his family so much He will be sadly missed by all that had the
pleasure of knowing him. He rests in peace, free from pain and looked
forward to his journey to heaven. He was preceded in death by his daughter
Kristin Nicole “Nikki” Lutz. He is survived by his wife Beth Vass-Lutz, a
son Michael Lutz & wife Lynn & four Beautiful grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah,
Grace and Abigail, his brother Edgar “Bud” Lutz & wife Rose Ann Lutz, a
sister Nancy & husband Walt Melinski & many nieces & nephews. He also will
be sadly missed by his other special family, Bob & Margaret Vass, Robert E.
Vass, Jr. & wife Liba, Hank Vass & special friend Deena Becket, Molly & Rob
Lehman, Verity & Valerie Callender, Rick Coleman and so many other friends
that touched his life. Far too many to list here. There will be a gathering
of friends and family from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM and the celebration of his
life begins at 1:00 PM Friday October 7, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary
Huntington with Gary L. Patton Ph.D. & Father Jim Sobus officiating.
Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military rites. Individual thanks
and contributions may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of
Huntington or to the Paul Ambrose Foundation.
