Robert Lee Turley
(November 8, 1933 - October 26, 2011)



Robert Lee Turley, 77, of Huntington, WV, died Wednesday October 26, 2011 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 12:00 PM Friday October 28, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Jason Harris officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Bob was born November 8, 1933 in Culloden, WV, a son of the late Howard Clifton & Carrie Ellen Foster Turley. He was retired from the former INCO Alloys. He was a Green Beret in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son Robert “Robbie Lee Turley and a sister Dorothy Braenovich. Survivors include his wife Opal Louise Smith Turley, two daughters & sons-in-law; Mary & Jaime Lazaro of Huntington, Trina & Benjamin Wall of Barboursville, One son & daughter-in-law; Paul Clifton & Trena Turley of Point Pleasant, WV, 5 sisters; Wanda Davisworth (Jack) of Huntington, Betty Steed (Jim) of Parkersburg, Loretta Williams (Robert) of Lesage, Barbara Effingham, Lois Turley-Jeffrey (Cliff) all of Huntington, three brothers; Dewey Turley (Carol) of Atlanta, GA, Gary Turley (Judi) of Madison, WV, & Curtis Turley (Peggy) of Columbus, OH, 8 grandchildren; Elisha Booten, Ben & Levi Durfee, Summer Geer, Jesse, Grace, Kayte, & Hannah Wall, 3 great grandchildren; Will & Ashley Geer & Amelia Booten and several nieces & nephews. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. Friends may call after 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday at Chapman’s Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
