Lawrence Edward Black
(August 12, 1933 - December 4, 2014)

Lawrence Edward Black, 81, of Ona, WV, widower of Juanita Black, passed away Thursday December 4, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1933 in Ona, a son of the late Everette and Edith Scarberry Black. His son, Rodney Black also preceded him in death. He was a brick layer by trade having worked for Classic Construction. Survivors include his sons, Joel and Glenda Black and Mack and Melissa Black; sister, Shelia Mays; seven grandchildren, Joey and D.J. Black, Nicki Stanley, David Black, Destini Black, Johnny Johnson and Wade Thornhill; eight great grandchildren; his companion, Mary Lou Thacker; two special daughters-in-law, Marsha Black and Tammy Black; a special great nephew, Dakota; and a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may visit the family Saturday, December 6, 2014, from 10:30 am -12:00 pm at Chapman’s Mortuary and a procession will leave the funeral home at 12:00 pm for Union Ridge Cemetery where a graveside service will be conducted with Rev. Millard Morrison officiating.
