Obituary

Dewey Cook, Jr.
(October 3, 1925 - December 18, 2014)


Dewey Cook, Jr., 89, of Barboursville, WV, died Thursday December 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday December 20, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Robert Ray officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Dewey was born October 3, 1925 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Dewey Cook, Sr. & Meredith Hogan Cook. He was a retired accountant from the former Owens-Illinois, a US Navy veteran and he was a member of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed & William Cook and one son, Michael Cook. Survivors include his wife Celina Hicks Cook, two daughters Nancy & Mike McKinney of Greenville, SC and Mary Ellen Harshbarger of Barboursville, one son, James & Angela Cook of St. Petersburg, FL, 8 grandchildren, Rob & Ryan McKinney, Rodney, Meredith & Benjamin Harshbarger, Jason & Christopher Cook and Celina Wasserman, 18 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites.
