Ava Virginia McCoy
(July 23, 1915 - December 9, 2014)



Ava Virginia McCoy, 99, of Huntington, WV, died Tuesday December 9, 2014 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday December 12, 2014 at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. David B. Lemming officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Ava was born July 23, 1915 in Laura, KY a daughter of the late Robert H. & Ursla Fields Reed. She was a retired nurse from the Huntington State Hospital and a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer D. McCoy, three daughters, Patty Hill, Nell McCoy & Virginia Morrison and 5 brothers & 5 sisters. Survivors include 5 daughters, Joan Bragg of OH, Loretta Young of KY, Gloria Ellis, Mary Vickers & Susan Burgess all of WV, two sons, Homer Doug McCoy, Jr. of GA & Charles H. McCoy of WV, 27 grandchildren, 57 Great grandchildren and 23 Great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews & friends. Friends may call after noon on Friday at the church.
