Roger Lee Hughes
(November 26, 1934 - May 27, 2013)



Roger Lee Hughes, 78, of Huntington, passed away Monday May 27, 2013 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1934 in Jackson, OH, a son of the late Reno and Hazel Tieman Hughes. Other family members that have preceded him in death were a son, Roger Taylor “Butch” Hughes and an infant sister, Mary Ellen Hughes. Roger was a 1953 graduate of Jackson High School, and a member of Moose Lodge No. 2586 of Barboursville, WV, and Huntington BPOE #313. He was a former salesman and manager with Bordens Dairy Company. Survivors include his loving companion, Gladys M. Jenkins, and her family who accepted him as one of their own; a daughter, Deborah Hughes of South Point, OH; a son, Robert Joseph “Joe” Hughes of Tampa, FL; a sister, Roseanna Hughes of Jackson, OH; five grandchildren, Roger Hughes, Jennifer Hughes, Tracy Hughes, Jessica Hughes, and Kyle Hughes, all of South Point, OH; and three great grandchildren. Roger spent several years with Gladys enjoying retirement living in Ocean Isle Beach, NC, before recently moving back to Huntington. Inurnment with a memorial graveside service will occur at a later date in Fairmount Cemetery, Jackson, OH.
