Kay Ellen Merritt
(June 18, 1939 - May 5, 2013)



Kay Ellen Merritt, 73, of Huntington, wife of Barry G. Merritt, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospital. She was born June 18, 1939 in Oelwein, Iowa, a daughter of the late Roy Victor and Ellinor Maurer Hebrank. She was a former teacher, which specialized working with the deaf, with Logan and Wayne County Schools. In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Mai E. Merritt and Cari L. Merritt of Huntington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kem E. and Bobbie Merritt of Ashville, OH, Jon E. and Mary Merritt of Chicago, IL, and Geoff B. and Candy Merritt of LaGrange Park, IL; five grandchildren, Benjamin Merritt, Thomas Merritt, Jessica Rose Merritt, True Ann Merritt, and Bailey Marie Merritt; a sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Scott Younkin of Port Angeles, Washington; and a brother and sister-in-law, David and Janice Hebrank of Hubbord, IA. Donations may be sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation Fund at Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation, c/o Velma Workman, 1340 Hal Greer Blvd, Huntington, 25701. Friends may attend a celebration of life 12:00-4:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary, and send condolences to the family at  Barry will follow his and Kay’s wishes and the inurnment will occur at a later date at Jefferson Barrack’s in Dayton, OH.
